“El somiador que veié flors a l’hivern” en el “Winterreise” de Schubert (“The Dreamer who saw Flowers in Winter” in Schubert’s “Winterreise”)
31 May @ 18:30 - 20:00
Jesús Fernández Borraz, bass-baritone
Maria-Neus Devesa, piano
A musical and visual lecture including the performance of five “Lieder” from the “Winterreise” (Winter Journey) Op.89 by Franz P. Schubert (1797-1828) on poems by Wilhelm Müller (1794-1827), where the reference to flowers and their blooming becomes, for the fleeing protagonist, a metaphor in colour for that bliss now lost under a dark, bleak, grey and white world, allowing him to channel both his yearning for the happiness he enjoyed in the month of May and his wish for a better future, which drives him even to search in vain for a withered flower under the ice, and to draw flowers mentally in his slumber, when he is seeing snow crystals.
